Brow Lift

With Endoscopic Technique

The earliest signs of aging often appear on your brow and forehead. As you age, your skin slowly begins to lose some of its elasticity and fat tissue, which can cause substantial wrinkling of the forehead and drooping of the eyebrows. Additional factors such as genetics, sun exposure and race may also contribute to these fine lines and wrinkles.

If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your brow and forehead, brow lift surgery may be a great option for you. During the consultation process, Dr. Feledy will determine if a traditional brow lift or an endoscopic brow lift is best for you. The traditional method involves a single incision that runs the length of the hairline at the top of the forehead, whereas the endoscopic method requires only a few small incisions along the hairline.

FAQ About Brow Lift Surgery

Am I a good candidate for brow lift surgery?

Candidates for brow lift surgery are typically people between the ages of 40 and 60 who wish to minimize substantial signs of aging in their brow and forehead region. As with any surgical procedure, the best candidates will be in good physical and mental health. During the consultation process, Dr. Feledy will be able to determine if you are a good candidate for surgery.

What is the endoscopic technique?

During an endoscopic brow lift, Dr. Feledy uses a tiny camera to view the underlying structures of the forehead, rather than pulling the forehead skin back to view them as is done during a traditional brow lift. Both brow lift techniques involve removing excess forehead skin, repositioning underlying tissues and relaxing the forehead muscles that cause wrinkles.

What happens after a brow lift?

After your brow lift, some numbness, swelling and bruising may occur. These temporary side effects usually last one to two weeks; however, numbness may last somewhat longer. After one to two weeks, most brow lift patients are able to resume every day activities, including work. You should wait at least three to four weeks before resuming exercise and other more strenuous activities.

Are the results permanent?

In most cases the results of a brow lift will be permanent. However, the effects of aging or substantial fluctuations in body weight may affect the appearance of your brow and forehead. Implementing a healthy diet, exercise and skin care routine will increase the probability long lasting results.

What are some of the risks associated with brow lift surgery?

Brow lift surgery is considered safe and complications are infrequent. Some of the potential complications include infection, bleeding, adverse reactions to anesthesia or scarring. Dr. Feledy will be able to advise you on the potential risks and benefits of brow lift surgery during your appointment.
