Meet Jules A. Feledy Jr. M.D.
Dr. Feledy is an award-winning, board-certified plastic surgeon who has over 15 years of post-graduate training. He is licensed to practice medicine in Maryland, Virginia, Texas, and Washington, D.C., and he is the author of more than 20 professional publications and presentations.
A thoroughly experienced practitioner, Dr. Feledy has performed thousands of procedures, and specializes in both Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.Although Dr. Feledy has experience with a wide range of surgeries, he is particularly known for his reconstructive plastic surgery expertise in breast reconstruction, melanoma and skin cancer procedures. His aesthetic plastic surgery specialties include VASER liposelection with fat grafting, breast augmentation and abdominoplasty.
Training Credentials
Dr. Feledy earned his medical degree in 1992 from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. During this time he served as president of the Lambda Chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and completed two summer fellowships in anesthesiology. His outstanding academic and clinical performance was recognized by several institutions in the form of a Merck Award for Clinical Excellence, a Mount Sinai Alumni Award for Student Leadership, and various clinical honors in seven specialties.
Following graduation from medical school, Dr. Feledy began his extensive post-doctoral training with a categorical general surgical residency under the chairmanship of Dr. Aurther Aufses at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. During his residency he was awarded a prestigious fellowship in Human Genetics in the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. During this time Dr. Feledy had the opportunity to work with world-class physicians and researchers, and to participate with their work. He spent four years in clinical and basic science research.
In 1999, Dr. Feledy returned to the Mount Sinai Medical Center to complete his general surgical residency, then with Dr. Larry Hollier as chairman, serving as senior and chief resident. Dr. Feledy then went on to subspecialize in reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery, with Dr. Saleh Shenaq as Chairman, at the world-famous Michael DeBakey Department of Surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. The plastic surgery program has been widely regarded as one of the premier programs in plastic surgery due to the outstanding commitment to teaching, extensive faculty, and breadth of experience. During this time, Dr. Feledy worked closely with many recognized leaders in the field.
Dr. Feledy further developed his microvascular skills with a reconstructive microsurgery fellowship from 2004-2005 at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, with Dr. Geoff Robb as chairman. During this time, Dr. Feledy was able to focus on breast reconstruction for breast cancer and body reconstruction for melanoma cancer.
Dr. Feledy returned with his family to the DC area in 2005. He named the practice after their home in West University, Houston, on Belmont Street. He brings world-class training from the leading institutions to his practice.
Publications
Keeping research a consistent presence in his education and clinical practice, Dr. Feledy has researched and authored more than eight articles in peer-reviewed medical journals over the course of his schooling and career. He currently has several more articles and projects pending. At numerous profressional meetings across the nation, Dr. Feledy has presented abstracts and papers on a variety of subjects, including TRAM flap breast reconstruction, broken jaw reconstruction and oculoplastic surgery.

Dr. Feledy is a long-standing member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Oster Medical Society, the National Capital Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities. He is also a member of the Liquid Face Lift Association and the Microvascular Society.

Since arriving in the DC area, Dr. Feledy has been ranked by Washingtonian magazine as one of Washington, D.C.'s "Top Doctors," under the category of "Washington's Best Plastic Surgeons." 2008-2009, 2010-2011, 2012- 2013.

U.S. News and World Report has also named Dr. Feledy one of its "Top Doctors," a process that occurs through a peer nomination system. This marks him as one of Maryland's top 40 plastic surgeons, and one of the best 829 plastic surgeons in the U.S.

Dr. Feledy was interviewed as an expert on breast augmentation for Bethesda Magazine's 2008 article "Mirror, Mirror," which detailed the area's 12 most popular cosmetic procedures. Discussing recent developments, including the placing of implants underneath chest muscle for a more natural appearance. "Most [breast augmentation] patients are really excited about the results" he reported. Feledy went on to further discuss the important safety issues and risks regarding this procedure.
