Thigh Lift

Thigh lift surgery, also known as thighplasty, is a cosmetic procedure designed to slim down and reshape the inner or outer thighs. This procedure is best for treating fat and loose skin that resides in the inner or outer thighs. If you're not satisfied by the appearance of your thighs, or if you feel that they stand between you and your optimal body shape, then a thigh lift may be right for you.

FAQ About Thigh Lift

How does thigh lift surgery work?

Thigh lift surgery is a two to three hour outpatient procedure. General anesthetic is typically required. Dr. Feldy will first mark the areas of the thighs that are planned for reshaping. He will then make discreet incision lines along the natural creases and contours of the lower body. Sagging loose skin is removed from the thighs, while fat is removed with liposuction.

Who's an ideal thigh lift candidate?

The best candidates for thigh lift surgery will possess excess soft tissue along the inner and/or outer thighs. If you're considering thigh lift surgery, plastic surgeons recommend that you be 1) healthy, 2) a non-smoker, 3) realistic in your expectations, 4) committed to a healthy lifestyle.

How long is recovery after a thigh lift?

Recovery time varies, but patients should plan for four to six weeks of limited activity. Walking is usually advised the day after surgery. Tape and a compression garments will be worn for approximately three weeks.

What are the risks of thigh lift surgery?

As with all surgical procedures, a thigh lift presents a degree of risk and uncertainty. These risks will be discussed in-depth during your consultation with Dr. Feledy. Possible complications of thigh lift surgery may include unfavorable scarring, bleeding (hematoma), infection, fluid accumulation, poor healing skin loss, blood clots, numbness or other changes in skin sensation, anesthesia risks and undesirable cosmetic outcome.

Are there alternatives to a thigh lift?

In some cases, liposuction performed on the inner and outer thighs may be enough to achieve optimal results. Liposuction candidates are usually younger patients with good skin elasticity who struggle mostly with persistent fat deposits, rather than excess skin.

Can thigh lift surgery be combined with other procedures?

Liposuction is frequently performed in conjunction with thigh lift surgery. If you've undergone significant weight loss, Dr. Feledy may recommend other body contouring procedures such as a body lift, tummy tuck, butt lift. You can discuss these options with Dr. Feledy during your appointment.
