According to the most recent American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ National Plastic Surgery Statistics Report, the breast augmentation procedure (aka breast implant surgery, augmentation mammoplasty or ‘boob job’) has ranked as the number one plastic surgery procedure performed in the United States once again. Furthermore, when comparing the 2017 and 2018 statistics report, the number of breast augmentation procedures performed in 2018 increased by 4 percent. Women all over the nation are attaining the beautiful, voluminous breasts they desire with breast augmentation procedures specifically tailored to meet their specific needs. At Belmont Plastic Surgery, board-certified aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Jules Feledy helps women in and around Woodbridge, Virginia, attain the beautiful, natural-looking, voluptuous breasts they desire by performing custom-designed breast augmentation procedures.
As a seasoned breast augmentation surgeon who specializes in performing breast enhancement procedures, Dr. Feledy has the knowledge, artistic vision and skill necessary to help women desiring larger breasts reach their goals. With a breast augmentation, Dr. Jules Feledy enhances his patients’ breasts using high-quality, FDA-approved breast implants.
At Belmont Plastic Surgery in Stafford, Virginia, near Woodbridge, patients can choose from silicone and saline breast implants, including the highly sought-after gummy bear breast implants (aka highly-cohesive silicone gel implants).
Silicone breast implants offer women a way to increase the size of their breasts while still maintaining a natural feel. Saline breast implants are significantly less expensive than silicone breast implants, however, saline implants are more easily felt beneath the skin than silicone breast implants are: This is especially true when they are placed for women who are quite thin with naturally small breasts.
Silicone breast implants arrive at Belmont Plastic Surgery in Stafford, Virginia, near Woodbridge, ready to be inserted. Saline breast implants differ in that their shells arrive empty and are filled with salt water after being inserted into the pockets that Dr. Feledy creates for them during the procedure.
While performing a breast augmentation using silicone implants, Dr. Feledy makes sure that the implants are correctly aligned with the patient’s nipple-areolar complexes.
When saline breast implants are used, Dr. Jules Feledy carefully compares the size, shape and location of the implants to ensure that the patient’s breasts are symmetrical.
The breast implants are placed within a pocket that Dr. Feledy creates either submuscularly or subglandularly.
If Dr. Feledy places the implant in a pocket that he creates just beneath the breast tissue, the implant is placed subglandularly.
If Dr. Feledy creates the implant’s pocket beneath both the breast tissue and the pectoral muscle (aka chest muscle), the implant is placed submuscularly. When a patient does not have an adequate amount of breast tissue to cover the implant, it will be placed submuscularly. Submuscular placement reduces the likelihood that the breast implant will be palpable.
Since Dr. Feledy is a breast enhancement specialist, any incisions he creates during the breast augmentation procedure are well hidden within the body’s natural folds, or at the junction of the nipple-areolar complex.
Before your initial consultation, please visit Belmont Plastic Surgery’s patient page to download and print your registration forms. Patients are always encouraged to be candid with Dr. Jules Feledy because the only way he can provide you with the look you desire is to know your specific goals.
After he reviews the information you provide him, and finds out what you would like to achieve with a breast augmentation, Dr. Jules Feledy will have a good idea as to which breast implants will help you reach your goal. He will also discuss your other breast augmentation options with you at this time.
If you do decide to move forward with a breast augmentation near Woodbridge, Virginia, with Dr. Jules Feledy, he will create you an individualized surgical plan.
To create your personalized treatment plan, Dr. Feledy may want to take some measurements of your breasts, he will determine how much breast tissue you currently have and the quality of the skin on your breasts. He may also take photos of your breasts from various angles. These pictures help Dr. Feledy as he creates your customized surgical plan, they are also used to compare your pre-surgical breasts to your augmented breasts. It is important to note that these pictures are considered confidential; therefore, they are kept in your patient file and will never be used for any other purpose (e.g., promotional purposes, etc.) without your permission.
Please feel free to ask questions, Dr. Feledy and his staff are always happy to provide patients with answers because they know that by explaining the specifics of a procedure, the patient feels more comfortable about the procedure itself.
As it is with the majority of plastic surgery procedures, a breast augmentation can be performed in a variety of ways. The details of your customized surgical procedure are discussed with you at your pre-surgical appointment.
Prior to the breast augmentation, Dr. Jules Feledy visits the patient in pre-op. He makes various markings on the patient’s breasts, which he uses as a guide during her surgical procedure. Patients are encouraged to ask any last-minute questions they have about their procedure, recovery, etc.
The patient receives general anesthesia, which puts her to sleep.
Dr. Jules Feledy creates the incision in the previously discussed area (e.g., periareolar, inframammary or transaxillary).
After creating the incision, Dr. Feledy makes the pocket for the breast implant. This pocket is made subglandularly or submuscularly.
The breast implant is placed within its pocket. If the implant is saline, Dr. Feledy fills the shell with the salt water. He will fill it with the number of ccs that the patient desires.
If the implant is silicone, Dr. Feledy just needs to place it within the pocket he creates.
Prior to closing the breast augmentation incisions, Dr. Feledy compares the patient’s newly augmented breasts to ensure that they are symmetrical.
Once he is happy with the result, Dr. Feledy closes the incisions using stitches, surgical tape and/or some type of skin adhesive.
After closing the incisions, a surgical bra and/or gauze bandage may be applied.
The patient is taken to recovery, which is where she remains until she awakes and is ready to go home. At that point, she is released to her driver.
Patients should expect to experience a significant amount of discomfort for the first few days after their breast augmentation, however, Dr. Jules Feledy provides his patients with prescription pain killers to help them feel more comfortable during this time. In addition, patients may receive a prescription for an antibiotic. It is crucial that patients take their antibiotic as directed and complete the entire contents of the bottle, otherwise, patients are putting themselves at risk for developing an infection.
Upon waking in recovery, postoperative instructions will be given to you and your driver. Someone needs to remain with you for the initial 24 hours following your breast augmentation. If you can have someone remain with you for several days, that would be ideal.
Very little wound care is necessary; however, you will need to take it easy for the first week. Increasing your heart rate and raising your blood pressure during this time could lead to unnecessary bleeding around your breast implants.
For most of Dr. Feledy’s breast augmentation patients, the inflammation and discomfort they experience following their surgery resolves by the end of the first week. However, if you have increased your breast size substantially, a longer period of discomfort is possible.
After four weeks, you should be able to resume all activities.
Every surgery carries its own risks and a breast augmentation near Woodbridge, Virginia, is no different.
There are steps that you can take to reduce your likelihood of experiencing a complication following your breast implant surgery. For example, choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in breast enhancement procedures is one of the best ways to decrease your likelihood of experiencing complications. In addition, following all the postoperative instructions and recommendations that are provided to you as you recover, especially when it comes to limiting your activity level during the first week, can greatly reduce your likelihood of experiencing a complication after your breast augmentation procedure with Dr. Jules Feledy near Woodbridge, Virginia.
The cost of your breast augmentation depends on a variety of factors, for this reason, the only way that Dr. Feledy can determine the cost of your breast implant surgery is to find out what you would like him to accomplish for you. As such, to determine how much your breast augmentation would cost, Dr. Feledy will need to examine you. He can do this during an initial consultation.
Dr. Jules Feledy realizes that there are times when gathering the funds together for an elective procedure can be challenging, however, to ensure his patients are able to attain the beautiful, natural-looking breasts they desire, Dr. Feledy and his staff are happy to help patients apply for financing through CareCredit and/or ALPHAEON CREDIT.
As a top surgeon and breast enhancement specialist, Dr. Jules Feledy has the knowledge, skill and dedication to excellence necessary to provide you with the beautiful, natural-looking, voluptuous breasts that you desire.
